American Academy of Pediatrics Recommends e-Rx. WRS Concurs.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recently released a policy statement recommending that pediatric healthcare providers adopt e-prescribing. It cited the potential to improve quality and reduce harm in pediatric healthcare.
“Electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) is widely recognized as a component of the care process that improves quality and reduces costs by facilitating handoffs, improving clinical decision-making, and potentially improving medication adherence,” said the AAP policy statement published in Pediatrics.
WRS concurs. E-prescribing and pediatric-specific content and functionalities are integrated in the WRS Pediatric EMR.
In its statement, the AAP identified several capabilities e-prescribing systems should include. The Waiting Room Solutions Pediatric EMR includes the recommended capabilities below.
- Pediatric-specific medication catalogs
- Pediatric decision support
- Ingredient amount-to-volume conversions for liquid medications
- Pediatric drug information
- Formulation options
- Drug interaction and allergy checking
