Cardiology Specific Web-based EMR

Cardiology EMR Content and Templates are ‘Out of the Box’

The WRS Health Cardiologist-Specific EMR content permits the Cardiologist to easily chart an encounter. Many patient encounters do not conform to a defined “template” and it is important to be able to quickly and comfortably chart. You will find your expected Cardiology-specific physical exam findings already loaded in your note, such as Arterial Pulses, Jugular Venous Pressure, Auscultation and Precordial Movement. Similarly, for the Cardiology Review of Systems you will find cardiology-relevant complaints and symptoms. The content in your note has been reviewed and refined by Cardiologists.

Routine to Complex Charting for Cardiology

When you complete a chart in WRS web-based EMR for cardiac conditions like angina pectoris, heart attack, or high blood pressure, intelligent templates enable you to quickly chart out the encounter with one-click. There is even an integrated charting system for special procedures such as an AngioJet, Balloon Valvuloplasty, Stent Implantation, or Myocardial Biopsy. WRS Health EMR has a full library of templates that can be incorporated into your practice and edited to suit your practice style. Templates can all be created for your preference. You can even order multiple tests with a single button.

ICD-10 and CPT Coding With Point-n-Click

With the WRS Health Web-Based EMR Charting Solution, you are able to code for Cardiology ICD-10 and CPT with a point-n-click process.  All of the codes are loaded into your note automatically, saving time and the frustration of finding the right code and reporting it manually.

One Step Closer Toward Meaningful Use

To achieve Meaningful Use, there are 25 rules that you must follow to gain the stimulus incentive. Among these rules, it is crucial that you maintain an active problem list, medication list, allergy list, and are able to exchange data from the Continuity of Care Record.

Among other MU Solutions, The Continuity of Care Record in the WRS Health web-based EMR System is an easy place to get a global snapshot view of all your patients' problems. You do not need to maintain this list as a separate function because it is automaticaly populated as you chart your notes. A single-click dashboard allows you to easily access reports at one place for Meaningful Use Compliance. WRS Health provides tutorials for all of the MU criteria here.

Efficient Practice Workflow

Surgical Workflow Management

The surgery scheduling workflow module in WRS Health was built to handle preoperative, perioperative and postoperative charting, billing, and scheduling functions as well as to provide a centralized location to view and manage heart surgery cases.  The Surgical Scheduling queue within the Cardiology EHR is divided into four sections: preoperative management, peri-operative management, postoperative and completed surgical workflow.

Preoperative management is grouped by all patients prior to their surgical date.  Peri-operative management is grouped by the date of surgery + 6 days - essentially this is the week of surgery.  Postoperative management is the week following surgery until the end of the Medicare Global period.  Completed surgical workflow is after the global period or if the surgery has been cancelled.

During the preoperative period, certain items such as insurance authorization, Medical clearance, surgery date, preoperative testing and consent management can all be communicated. During the perioperative period subsequent to the operation there is a process for entering CPT codes that were pre-certified without having to look them up all over again.  The data is then seamlessly entered into the patient's previous surgical history.  In the postoperative management period, the provider is queued as to the global period and prompted for the entry of appropriate modifiers if reimbursements are appropriate.  The completed section of the queue is for care subsequent to the global period of care and can be used to retrospectively review surgical cases or manage cancelled cases.

Risk Mitigation

The WRS Workflow System has a Consent Management feature. The web-based EMR system also includes automatic appointment reminders and pre-op/post-up instructions sent via phone/email/text. The Order Tracking system tracks all orders issued from the WRS EMR electronically through the entire order life-cycle. We help relieve the burden of tracking orders that have not been obtained by the patient or have not been received by the office.

WRS Digital Pen for Patient Questionnaires and Consent Forms

When you are charting encounters that require additional or special documentation, WRS web-based EMR has an engineered smooth workflow for the Cardiology office. Cardiac Anxiety Questionnaires and other types of documentation, such as Consent Forms can be filled out by the patient in the waiting room with the WRS Digital Pen. You can also document a stress test with the WRS Digital Pen. The data from these patient forms then flows seamlessly into your note without requiring a user to re-key data from the patient forms. This saves time at your front desk. WRS web-based EMR makes this workflow available to you in a variety of types of patient encounters. If you have your own Cardiology specific customized forms that you developed, we are able to take your own forms and have the data flow into the EMR with the WRS digital pen. All your data can sit on one platform without the need to export or import, cut or paste data or documents.

Medication Management and Alerts

The WRS Health Health Maintenance EMR module allows you to set up different alerts, whether it be monthly, weekly or daily, in order to mitigate the risks associated with Beta Blockers, Calcium Channel Blockers, and Anticoagulants. Our integrated patient portal allows for secure communication between you and your patients, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Automated and Integrated Appointment Reminder System at No Extra Charge

Scheduling variability due to appointments not kept or due to over-booking can cause unnecessary quiet times as well as log-jams at the front desk. WRS Health understands how a Cardiology office works.

It is important to keep a good eye on your patients after surgery. Appointment reminders are an automatic process in the WRS Health system. When an appointment is made, the patient is automatically sent an email and an automated phone call reminder, and an SMS Text Message. This is an integrated part of the WRS system – not a third party add-on with an interface. By automating and removing the appointment confirmation function from the front desk your staff has more time to focus on other functions that require human interaction.

Our 4 – step check-in to check-out process ensures the seamless movement of patients and data through the encounter. When there are special needs associated with the encounter the front desk is alerted before the patient enters the exam room. This ensures that you have lab reports such as Triglycerides and Alkaline Phosphatase prior to entering the room. Specific types of appointments can all be customized.

When patients need to be recalled for period visits, the system does this recall function automatically. Recall emails, phone calls, and SMS Text Messages with an interactive voice module are automatically generated based on rules that you can setup in the WRS Health system. Based upon diagnosis, medication, laboratory values or multiple demographic criteria you can recall or alert subsets of your patients automatically.

Your Documents are Available Online — Anywhere, Anytime

Integrating documents into the electronic charting process is critical because paper forms and faxes are still a standard part of medical communication. Externally produced imaging reports and Personalized Consultation Letters can be easily scanned and imported into the chart. Based upon your setup preferences documents can be organized based on different categories.

WRS Health is unique in the web-based EMR industry in having a completely integrated and seamless fax queue. With this queue, faxes are received electronically into the system and never make it to paper. Faxes can be matched to patients and orders created for that patient. Faxes can be assigned and tasked to a provider or other Cardiology office worker to act upon. A central fax queue makes all faxes available to all users regardless of the location. This is critical for offices with multiple locations.

Integrated Laboratory Connections

Establish bidirectional electronic connections to your preferred reference laboratories like LabCorp, Quest or BioReference. Intravascular ultrasounds, Magnetic resonance coronary aniographs and PETs can all be uploaded to your Cardiology EMR.

The WRS Health Order Tracking system including automated alerts and messaging makes this process seamless. Your most valuable asset in your practice is your time. You shouldn’t be squandering your time chasing down lab tests or beginning patient encounters absent the information you need to treat the patient.

Billing and Revenue Cycle Management for Your Cardiology Practice

Proper and Complete Reimbursement for all the Services You Provide

When you chart your Cardiology procedures such as a Stress Test or Diagnostic Tests, they are automatically queued for billing without the need for dual entry of data by your front desk, biller or billing service. No charges are lost in the ’hand-off.’ Furthermore, most Cardiology procedures in the WRS Web-based EMR are charted with one-click default templates.

Eligibility Checking Process

Eligibility checking of your patients is seamless and automatic. Based upon the scheduled appointment date all patients are automatically checked for up-to-date insurance and demographic data to ensure that you get paid. This is accomplished by electronic connections to the insurance companies with automatic messages sent starting 72 hours before the appointments. This takes the eligibility checking burden off of your already busy front desk. Your front desk is alerted for ineligible patients before the encounter begins so that the correct financial arrangements can be sorted out prior to the visit. Ensuring an efficient eligibility checking process relieves your billing office from chasing patients for payment or repeated submission of claims to insurance companies that won’t get paid.

Integrated Credit Card Processing and Online Bill Payment

Patient payments that are made easier for the patient help ensure timely and correct payment. Credit card processing and online bill payment are integrated into the system without having to go to a separate portal or third party software. This is unique to the WRS Health web-based EMR System.

When payments are made to the office, associated electronic payment entry, posting and adjustments are done seamlessly without any additional work. All of the WRS Health advanced Cardiology Billing and Revenue Cycle Management tools, workflow and procedures have been designed for a Cardiology billing office. By using these tools the billing office can focus their skills and attention on billing and collections processes that can’t be automated and require human intervention such as claim appeals and monitoring the revenue cycle.

Marketing Your Cardiology Services

Your practice’s website markets your practice on the web, but also serves as an anchor for other marketing efforts of your Cardiology practice. WRS Health has answers to enable you to get top listings in Google and other search engines. Your website is automatically created and maintained when you setup your practice within the WRS Health system. Search engine submissions and optimization is also managed automatically so that you are found by your current patients or patients seeking your services. You can market new procedures to current or potential patients. WRS Health provides standard content that can then be modified to suit your practice situation. We also provide search engine optimization and practice marketing services to your practice to really rev up your marketing efforts. Managing the marketing of a Cardiology practice shouldn’t be an ad-hoc event. Sustained, continued effort and management leads to results. We make this easy for you and include all the tools you need to market your practice on one integrated platform.

Referral Management System

The excellent care you provide is the first step when marketing your Cardiology practice. A complete, customized and branded chart note reflects that care. The WRS Health referral management system and workflow enables you to send your customized chart note and/or a customized letter to your referring provider with a single click. Encounter note elements are automatically pulled from your note to populate your letter. All faxing of notes, letters and documents happens from the system and they are designed to highlight your practice and the care you provide. We maintain a central database of your referring doctor’s fax numbers, phone numbers and addresses so there is no need to setup this feature before accessing its benefits.

Award-Winning Advanced Patient Portal

The patient portal provided through your customized website and the patient messaging system help you market your practice to your patients. Patients can enter their complaints and medical conditions through the patient portal and this saves the patient and your office staff time when they come for their encounter -- less time in the waiting room and consistent waiting times have been shown to lead to greater perceived satisfaction after a medical visit. After the encounter, based upon your diagnosis, focused and branded educational content can be printed or automatically emailed to your patients.
